The last Wedding-related task Newlyweds face is a matter of both practicality and etiquette: sending Thank You notes to the friends and relatives who gave them Wedding presents.  The Lord Thompson Manor recommends that Brides and Grooms follow these tips on creating and sending proper, personal Thank You notes.

First, use formal stationery to thank people for Wedding gifts; many Brides even like to order their Thank You cards at the same time as their Wedding Invitations to ensure that the colors and design match.  Thank You cards should always be handwritten to display sincerity and appreciation, and it is always a good idea to use an easily legible black or dark blue ink.

Thank You notes should discuss the Wedding gift specifically and recognize the Bride and Groom’s favorite quality about it—the color, how it will be used, etc.  If the gift giver has also thrown the Bride, the Groom or both a party or shower, it is also appropriate to thank him or her for it.  Every Thank You note should also display the Bride and Groom’s appreciation for the presence of their guest at their Wedding.  It is also a good idea for the note to be worded in such a way that focuses more on the gift giver than the recipients; that is to say, the word “you” should appear more frequently than the words “I” or “we.”

Finally, Thank You notes should be sent as soon as the gifts arrive.  If a Bride and Groom have received a present, it is never too soon to thank the sender.  It should take no more than three months to get Wedding Thank You notes in the mail, but it is better to send them late than to never send them at all.  If the Newlyweds have moved because of the Wedding, is also important that they include their new address on their Thank You notes.

The Lord Thompson Manor has noticed a fun Wedding trend: Brides all over the country have been bringing back the traditionally Southern custom of a Groom’s Cake.  There are three noteworthy things to know about this trend:

1.  Tradition.  Wedding Cakes generally reflect the Bride’s style and the symbolism of Wedding Ceremonies—they are generally white, light in flavor and decorated with flowers, bows and other similarly feminine embellishments.  The Grooms Cake serves as a masculine counterpoint, and is served at either the Rehearsal Dinner or the Wedding itself (the Lord Thompson Manor recommends the former, rather than the latter).

2.  Flavor.  The Groom’s cake is often but not necessarily chocolate.  It can be the Groom’s favorite cake flavor, or the Bride can specifically choose any warm, rich taste that differs from the Wedding Cake.  The two things a Bride should consider when it comes to the Grooms Cake flavor are that it is supposed to differ from the Wedding Cake and serve as a present from the Bride to the Groom.

3.  Appearance.  The most spectacular part of a Groom’s Cake is the way it looks.  At the very least, the Groom’s Cake is colorfully decorated with a picture or symbol related to the Groom’s profession, preferred sport or favorite hobby.  However, some Brides go all out on this fun (and often delightfully ridiculous!) gift to their Grooms by commissioning cakes with elaborate shapes.  A Groom’s cake can look like anything from a police badge to a motorcycle to a model ship; the possibilities are endless.

At the Lord Thompson Manor, all of our weddings have specific colors.  Many have themes—for example, the elegant, classic, versatile Garden theme.  Our most sophisticated weddings even have motifs, little images or ideas which recur in all sorts of small details to bring each wedding to a cohesive whole. 

A motif might begin right when the bride and groom set their date, and can carry through to the thank-you cards.  If they decide, for example, on a Beach theme with a Seashell motif, they might print their Save the Date cards or invitations with images of conch or scallop shells.  As the big day draws nearer, the bride might choose a mermaid dress and put her bridesmaids in sandy beige with pearlescent seashell (or shell-inspired) accessories.  Shells can inspire the choice of flowers, decorate the wedding cake table or adorn the centerpieces.  Then, each wedding favor can come as a personalized message in a bottle, with a small gift, a few shells and a small “Thank you for coming to our special day” note in a little plastic or glass bottle.  Finally, when the bride and groom send thank-you notes for the wedding gifts they received, they can use cards with shells on them.

Creativity is the process of formulating new ideas and concepts. It is also associated to finding the connection between these thoughts. Looking at creativity from a scientific perspective, creative process (which is also called divergent thought) are said to be original and appropriate.

Another alternative perception of creativity is the simple truth that it is the action of generating something new. It may seem to be quite simple but creativity entails complicated procedures. A closer look on the creativity of a person has derived points of view from various sciences such as social psychology, cognitive science, philosophy, economics, business, management, design research, history, artificial intelligence, psychometrics, behavioral psychology and art.

These conducted studies tackled daily creativity that are both considered to be exceptional and artificial. The difference of creative standpoints to other scientific phenomena is that there is no one definition or perspective of a person’s creativity. This is way different from psychology because it has no standardized gauge when it comes to technique.

Creativity is also associated to the cognitive process of divine intervention involving personality traits, chance and the social environment. Some people claim that creativity is a trait lucky individuals are born with but there are those who believe that it can be learned.

Creativity is often connotated to art and literature because it is essential to invention and innovation. Nonetheless, professions involving economics, industrial design, engineering, science, architecture and business invest in creativity.

 Can Creativity Be Measured

Can creativity be measured? No, I don’t think that creativity can be measured. There are no set rules that state who is and who isn’t creative. There is no standard of creativity in order to compare those who are creative to those who are not. Even if there was a standard, what would that be? I don’t think there even could be a standard for measuring creativity because everyone is creative in their own way. Who’s to say that one’s poem, unique drawing, or clay sculpture was not made creatively?

However, I do believe that there are people who take more advantage of their ability to be creative. Everyone has a creative side; some people just don’t really make an effort to express it. Everyone has their own ideas and ways of doing things. Some people’s ideas and ways of doing things change over time because they might grow as a person, become wiser, or learn new ways of doing things.

For that reason, I believe that creativity can be learned, but there is neither standard nor limit to the endless ways that one can express his or her own creativity. Some people’s creativity is more noticeable and liked by a large number of people, which is why they get recognition and credit for it. There are also people who are creative, but others just don’t really connect to their style. Whether you get recognized for your work or not, you have the ability to expand your creativity and measure your own growth according to how much you, as an individual, learned and achieved over a certain amount of time.

Everyone is different, and one person can never be compared to another. One person’s creativity, skill, and growth can never be compared to another’s because that would never be a fair comparison. Each individual should be judged by their own personal growth from one point of their lives to another because each person starts off from a different state in their life. That state could be a very bad state where the person is going through so much, and once they recover, they have grew more than a person who started off from a good state. A person starting off from a good state has more strength and time to achieve something and doesn’t grow as a person as much, whereas a person who has been through a lot has to overcome their difficulties, and as a result, they become wiser and grow more as a person.

In a nutshell, I don’t believe that creativity can be measured because everyone is just different. We all have different experiences, and we are exposed to different things in life that might affect our creativity. Creativity is just one of those things that can never be measured because no one would ever be able to come up with a standard that will satisfy everyone’s own personality, level, and genius.

Anyone who sees it can also use it to represent how they feel. Strokes and colors can evoke certain emotions from other people. This is why most people want to buy pieces of artwork.

For others, it represents their dreams. The television today has produced several competitions that opened the doors for various dreamers. There are dancers across the country who lined up to audition because all their life they wanted to dance in front of an audience who appreciates what they can do.
